With CBD more popular than ever, people are searching for creative easy to use CBD in food and drink.
Fortunately, there are plenty of ways to integrate CBD into your diet, ranging from your morning cup of joe to delicious baked goods.
But wait just a minute, some of you might be thinking, what exactly is CBD?
What is CBD?
Cannabidiol, known commonly as CBD, is a naturally occurring compound found in the hemp plant.
CBD is gaining such popularity due to its ability to help improve wellbeing in many different ways. CBD is believed to help manage the following conditions, among others:
Please be aware that further research is needed to confirm the direct effect CBD has on the above ailments. Indeed, such research is underway and scientists are rapidly discovering – and confirming – the incredible potential of CBD.
But if unsure, be sure to seek advice from a medical professional.
Will CBD get me high?
Absolutely not. Although it is derived from the cannabis plant, consuming CBD oils, tablets, and other products will not intoxicate you. The compound responsible for the psychoactive effects of cannabis is THC.
Unless you consume THC – which is not found in widely available CBD products – you won’t get high. CBD is, however, known for its relaxing effect – which is more similar to chamomile than it is to marijuana.

Is CBD safe to eat?
Experts agree that CBD is very safe to consume, with no serious side effects when taken in moderation.
Why use CBD in food and drink?
The most popular way to consume CBD is via CBD oil. CBD oil has a pleasant, earthy aroma, though some people report that they do not like the taste. (If you are among those people, be sure to check out BaldurCBD’s range of CBD oils in different flavours, including Strawberry and Mixed Berry).
The most direct, and effective, way to consume CBD oil is by placing a few drops under your tongue and holding it there for 30-60 seconds. Personally, I find this process enjoyable as I like the taste.
Now you are probably thinking: can I put CBD oil in food? Yes, you absolutely can. Many CBD enthusiasts like to mix CBD oil into their food. It can be a hassle-free way to get your daily dose of this wondrous substance.
And not just that: one study even found that absorption of CBD can be increased when consumed with fatty foods.
General tips for using CBD in food and drink
As we’ll see, it is super easy to find ways to mix CBD oil into your diet. Nonetheless, there are some tips you should follow for best results:
- Choose high-quality CBD oil. This is important. There are a lot of CBD companies out there, and you want to be sure you are choosing a reputable one, such as BaldurCBD.
- Start with small-sized doses. CBD works effectively in small doses, so there is no need to overdo it when adding to food.
- Store your CBD in a cool, dark, and dry place. Don’t leave it sitting in direct sunlight!
- Be creative. Below, we will share some of our favourite ways to use CBD in food and drink. But do experiment for yourself! There are countless ways to enjoy CBD in food and drink.
- Do not heat CBD directly. You’ll spoil the taste, and when heated too much, it loses some of its efficacy.
With all of the above in mind, let’s move on to our favourite ways to use CBD in food and drinks!
5 different ways of using CBD in food and drink
CBD is a diverse ingredient which is most easily added to food and drink in oil form. Here are our five favourite methods, which cover a range of food types to suit varying needs!
- CBD oil in coffee
The earthy taste of CBD oil is the perfect match for the deep flavour of coffee. This is especially true if you like it black – but it will work in coffee of any style.
The caffeine in coffee is well-known for its ability to wake you up and increase alertness. In fact, coffee is a pretty amazing substance and, according to research, may help:
- Raise energy levels
- Lower your risk of type 2 diabetes
- Protect your liver
- Make your live longer!
Nonetheless, despite these numerous benefits – of which there are many more – some people find that coffee can make them anxious.
CBD is thought to have anxiolytic (meaning anti-anxiety) effects – meaning it is possible that it will take the nervous edge off your morning cuppa. Regardless, the awesome flavour mix is enough reason to try out this combo.
Simply place a few drops of CBD oil into your coffee and stir. Start with 1-2 drops; you can change the dose according to your needs later on.
- CBD oil in fresh mint tea
The fresh flavour of mint is instantly recognisable in toothpaste, chewing gum, and yes – mints! Mint is also used in cuisines around the world, adding a fresh kick to dishes.
Fresh mint is widely enjoyed as a healthy tea, and is known to have the following benefits:
- Rich in nutrients
- Aids digestion
- May improve brain function
- Can improve bad breath
Again, the flavour of CBD oil works well with the tea. For the best taste, use only 1 or 2 drops, which can be added directly to freshly brewed mint tea.
Did you know that fresh mint tea and CBD oil is also delicious when chilled? Add the CBD oil to the tea as you brew it and then allow it all to cool. Once at room temperature, place the tea in a bottle and refrigerate for an amazingly refreshing – and healthy – cold beverage. Skip the cola and grab an iced CBD mint tea!
- CBD butter
Butter is an awesome cooking ingredient, adding so much richness to dishes (just ask the French!).
So if you are looking for a way to integrate CBD oil more broadly into your diet, making your own CBD butter is the way to go. Don’t forget, too, that mixing CBD with fatty foods is one of the best ways to improve its absorption in your body!
How to make CBD butter
To make this delicious mix, simply combine 2 parts butter, 1 part water, and 0.1 parts CBD oil into a small pot. Very, very gently heat the mix, being careful not to warm too much. As we saw before, CBD oil should not be heated too heavily.
Keep the mix over low heat for up to two hours and then allow to cool. Place the mix in an airtight container and keep in the fridge. That’s it! Your CBD butter is ready to be used like normal butter – on toast, cooking a steak, and baking pastries.
